The new "Mega Millions" lottery game has spurred interest among North Dakota players even though the jackpot is relatively low right now. Starting last Sunday, gamblers in North Dakota and 31 other states were eligible to buy tickets to both the Mega Millions and Powerball games. Before Sunday, the Mega Millions game was played in 12 states.

North Dakota lottery director Randy Miller says on Sunday, Mega Millions had about $9,000 in sales, while Powerball had almost $14,000 in sales. At the time the Mega Millions jackpot was $12 million and the Powerball jackpot was $107 million. Miller says the Mega Millions game did fairly well even though its jackpot was much lower.
