It's part of a new agreement that allows states to sell both Powerball and Mega Millions tickets.

Advocates say it will increase jackpots and increase revenues for cash-strapped states.

"In the past, people would have to go to Vermont, Pennsylvania, or Connecticut to get a Powerball ticket. Now they can do it right here,” said New York Lottery Director Gordon Medenica. “And in the other states they'll be selling Mega Millions tickets, as well. So it’s just a convenience for all our players to be able to play whatever jackpot they want to play."

Currently 33 states offer both games. This spring, they'll be available in 43 states, in addition to Washington, D.C. and the U.S Virgin Islands.

Powerball drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11 p.m.
